The BackLogical Framework is how I approach complex problems and initiatives: understand where things really are, determine where they need to go, build a practical path forward, and continuously validate and adjust as reality changes.
Current State → Assumptions → Desired State → Gaps → Roadmap → Execution → ValidatION → RemapPING → Repeat
Document & Analyze the Current State
Understand what exists today, how it actually works, what is working, and what isn’t.
Clarify Assumptions
Surface assumptions, constraints, dependencies, unknowns, and competing perspectives before treating them as facts.
Define the Desired State
Establish what success should look like and what needs to be different.
Identify the Gaps
Compare current and desired states to determine what is missing, disconnected, inefficient, or preventing progress.
Build the Roadmap & Milestones
Translate the gaps into priorities, logical sequencing, dependencies, and measurable milestones.
Create a Dynamic Execution Plan
Turn the roadmap into concrete initiatives, ownership, actions, deliverables, decisions, and measures of success.
Execute & Validate
Deliver incrementally and validate the outcome at each milestone rather than waiting until the entire roadmap is complete.
Remap as Reality Changes
Reassess the roadmap and execution plan when new information, priorities, constraints, needs, or the desired-state vision changes.
Repeat
Continuously question what has changed in your environment, goals, assumptions, and priorities, while staying aligned with the people involved.
