Hello and welcome! My name is Natasha Chernavska, and I am the owner of Backlogical. I’m an efficient Product leader and Coach with 28+ years of experience in software development, marketing, public relations in various capacities.

BackLogical was born out of a genuine frustration with the challenges that often plague the world of software development. I started my career as a front-end developer and transitioned to roles as a UI/UX Designer, Strategist, Lead Designer, Business Analyst, and later, Product Owner and Product Manager.

However, with each experience, I encountered issues related to misguided SDLC processes that hindered product development success. One of the primary challenges I observed was the miscommunication and misinterpretation of requirements, leading to scope overruns, development delays, missed deadlines, and unresolved defects. A lack of strong leadership, messy backlogs, and a lack of overall clarity compounded these challenges, causing growing frustration on both the Product and Development sides.

I also noticed that stories were often lacking structure and detail for effective testing, hindering progress and efficiency. Valuable tools like Jira and Confluence were underutilized, Agile rituals were disorganized and often wasted time rather than driving the process. Additionally, there was a lack of initiative and honest feedback from developers, resulting in untreated defects and a sense of frustration on both the business and development sides.

Do any of these challenges sound familiar to you?

As a passionate advocate for lean development and servant leadership, I always have a strong desire to improve the development process to maximize efficiency and make it enjoyable for everyone involved.

Throughout my work experience, I have developed many ways to address these persistent issues and offer effective solutions to businesses struggling in this domain. BackLogical is the result, a service dedicated to managing SDLC challenges head-on.

Detangling – One Product at a Time

The mission of BackLogical is to make software development a smoother, more enjoyable, and ultimately more successful journey for all, with a particular focus on the individuals who drive your business’ product development. In a way, you can call me a Product and Process Detangler. Bring us the mess, we will straighten it out!

I am committed to providing solutions that will streamline your software development processes, address documentation and backlog issues, improve communication, and enhance collaboration between businesses and development teams. I don’t claim to know everything, and I’m aware there are many areas of product development that I may be unfamiliar with.

However, I excel at optimizing processes and maximizing the efficiency of time and effort spent on product delivery, ensuring the process serves the success of both people and the business, not the other way around.

Throughout my journey, I had the opportunity to work in environments following various methodologies, including Agile, SCRUM, Waterfall, Kanban, SAFe, and combinations of these approaches. I collaborated with in-house teams, contractor teams, remote and offshore developers, as well as agencies. I had the privilege to work with both small and large companies such as Charles SchwabHonda of AmericaDisneyBeachbodyJohnson Controls, and T-Mobile.

I am SAFe certified with extensive experience in product delivery, project management, marketing, public relations, design, and a background in implementation. I have worked in various industries such as Telecommunications, Finance, Insurance, Automotive, Education, Entertainment, Medicine, and E-commerce.

I attended the journalism school at Moscow State University, and my skills in collecting and analyzing information not only benefit me in business and user research but also contribute to successful communication. Years of working in different cultures, environments, and industries taught me to stay humble and listen. I respect everyone around me and believe that there is something to learn.
